What are your shipping/delivery times?

We always want to deliver the best jewelry we can. Pieces that are made well enough that you can wear them with pride and good enough to perhaps, one day, pass on to the next generation. Meteorite jewelry takes great effort and is time-consuming to craft. We do not want to rush as it wouldn’t be fair to you or to the meteorite. We can therefore not promise/guarantee any delivery times for any specific item. Instead we will follow a “first come, first served” policy. The first backer will receive their jewelry first, and so on. We should be able to start sending out the first rewards within a month after the survey is completed. We ship all of our jewelry from Sweden.

What is the shipping cost?

Worldwide shipping is included in the price. There are some countries that we, unfortunately, can not ship to at this moment, e g Syria, Ukraine, Iran, and Russia.

Is VAT included in the price?

VAT is included in the price for countries located within the EU. If you live outside the EU VAT area, you are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, and any other import fees that your country might charge.

How do I know my ring size?

It is very important that you get the correct ring size, as meteorite rings are very difficult, or even impossible to resize.

We offer a 3D-printed sizing kit! Give us what you think is the right size (using something like the string method) and we will send you 3 rings, one that is the size you gave and the other two are 0.2mm larger or smaller. The kit is available as an add-on during the pledge process, it costs €12 including worldwide shipping. Ring sizes can be specified in 0.1mm increments, so if a 19.9mm ring is too tight and a 20.1 feels slightly loose, then 20.0 would be a good choice.

All sizes are in millimeters, the size of a ring is given as the inside diameter in millimeters. If you live in a country that uses non-metric units of size, please use a conversion chart from a trusted source to get the size in millimeters. Double and triple-check as it’s not possible to resize our meteorite rings using traditional means.

If you do not know your ring size you can try on different size rings until you find one that fits, you can borrow some from your friends or family. Then use a good quality caliper set to mm and carefully measure the inside diameter (in a pinch, you can use a ruler, but this won’t be as accurate). Please note that our rings are either “standard fit” or with a slight “comfort fit”, so you should make sure that your “sizing ring” is not a full comfort fit, as this will give you too small a size. Also make sure that the ring is about the same width, as this affects how tight it will feel on your finger.

Another good way to find out your size is to go to your local jeweler and have them help you find your size. If possible, go to two different places to make sure the sizing was made correctly. Please note that most ring sizers that jewelers use (as shown above) are quite thin, and if you’re planning on ordering a ring that is over 8 mm wide, you should try on a wide ring when you determine your size, as wider rings can feel tighter on your finger.

If you own or know someone that owns a 3D printer you can also print a set of rings in different sizes to find the perfect fit for you. This is a very good way of finding your size as you can print the exact width of the ring you are looking to get.

The last and least accurate way is to take a piece of string and wrap it around your finger. When you have a loop that you feel is a good size, mark the place where the string overlaps. Unroll the loop and measure the length of the string. This will give you the circumference, divide the number by pi, and this will give you the diameter. We do not recommend this method (unless you get a ring sizing add-on), as it’s very easy to over- or under-tighten the string.

Will my piece of meteorite jewelry look just like the pictures?

Iron meteorites are not completely homogenous. They have small cracks and inclusions throughout the material which can lead to variations in finish.

These inclusions are rare but we think this makes the pieces even more unique and interesting. If you don’t agree, please be aware that there is a chance your piece of jewelry might end up having these, and this is not a valid reason for a return or refund.

As each piece of jewelry is handmade, this will also result in slight variations of appearance.

What maintenance do I need to provide and why?

Muonionalusta Meteorite contains nickel, around 8.4%. The unique way the nickel crystal structure form after being slowly cooled down over a million years in zero gravity is what makes the beautiful pattern in the Muonionalusta meteorites. However, nickel is bad for humans. You might already have an allergy to it, or develop one with long-term exposure. Please read up on nickel allergy and how it might develop over time before deciding to get any jewelry made from meteorite.

We take great care to minimize nickel exposure from our jewelry. Each piece has been designed to minimize the chance of the meteorite coming in contact with your skin. We also design our necklaces to not easily flip over. But if it were to flip over, a properly maintained wax coating will give some protection. This is another reason why it is important to keep up the maintenance of your meteorite jewelry, and rather apply wax more often, than risk the coating being worn down.

This type of meteorite is mainly comprised of iron, which is a material that can form rust when in contact with water and oxygen. If you get a scratch on the meteorite apply a fresh protective coat as quickly as possible to prevent rust from forming.

Always remove any meteorite jewelry when doing activities where it can get wet or exposed to chemicals, such as washing your hands, showering, exercising, or cleaning. We recommend taking off your meteorite jewelry when sleeping.

If light rust starts to form it’s possible to remove it yourself. Use a new toothbrush and mild soap and scrub thoroughly. Rinse the meteorite and dry it completely using a hair dryer, it’s very important that there is no moisture left. Then apply a few new coats of wax.

If the meteorite is heavily rusted then it will need to be sanded and etched again. This is something we do not recommend you do on your own, as the chemicals involved are quite dangerous and it takes practice to get a good result. If this happens, please get in touch with us, and we will try to help you out.

Solid meteorite rings need more maintenance and care as the outside of the ring rest against the adjacent fingers. We recommend not wearing it too often. Solid meteorite rings are made to be worn on special occasions only. We do not recommend using these rings as your primary wedding bands. The risk of developing nickel allergy is directly linked to the length of exposure. The wax coating protects the skin from coming into direct contact with the nickel, but there is still a risk of nickel exposure as the rings do continuously rest against the adjacent fingers.

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.

SECTION 0 – RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

Returns

All orders containing custom made products, such as meteorite jewelry, are ineligible for cancellation, return, and refunds, from the time that the manufacturing of the product has begun.

For orders not containing any custom made products, you have 14 days to return an item from the date you received it. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Before any return is made, you must contact us via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected] and receive preliminary approval. Failure to follow instructions given in reply to your message, or failure to contact us within the stipulated time, may lead to your return being ineligible. If you contact us, but then do not respond within 14 days of our last reply, you will be considered as having withdrawn the request to return your item.

Your item must be returned in the original packaging, or packaging at least as protective as the original packaging. We reserve the right to judge if the return packaging is sufficiently protective or not. You are responsible for the item until it has been received and inspected by us.

Damaged products

If you have reason to believe that the product is damaged upon arrival (e g from the condition of the package), please take a picture of the package before opening it. Severely damaged packages should be refused upon delivery. If you refuse delivery of a severely damaged package, please contact us via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected] as soon as possible after the refusal.

A product can not be returned due to damages after it has been used, you have to inspect all items upon arrival. Visibly damaged products must be reported to us via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected] within 48 hours of delivery, and details subsequently provided as asked for. If the damage/fault is not immediately visible, you should report the issue as soon as you notice it, via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected] . This should be done within 30 days of delivery at the latest. Failure to follow instructions given in reply to your message, or failure to contact us within the stipulated time, may lead to your return being ineligible. If you contact us, but then do not respond within 14 days of our last reply, you will be considered as having withdrawn your claim of damaged products.

Wrong item received or parcel missing items

If you have received a parcel that contains the wrong items or is missing items, you must report this to us within 48 hours of receiving the parcel via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected]. Failure to follow instructions given in reply to your message, or failure to contact us within the stipulated time, will result in a rejection of your claim of missing items. If you contact us, but then do not respond within 14 days of our last reply, you will be considered as having withdrawn your claim of missing items.

If you have received items that were not a part of your order, you will be given a choice between keeping the items and paying for them, or to return them to us. If you wish to return the wrongfully sent/received items, we will reimburse your shipping costs, if you have followed all instructions regarding the return shipping given in the specific case.

Refunds

Once we receive your return, we will inspect it and notify you that we have received your returned item. We will immediately notify you of the status of your refund after inspecting the item.

If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit card or other original methods of payment, or (eg in case of a damaged product) send you a replacement. You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer’s or other payment provider's policies. Shipping costs will not be refunded (except in certain cases, see below).

Shipping

You should never return any product to us without prior contact where we give you instructions on how to make the return. Doing so may cause your return to be deemed ineligible and void any compensation for return shipping costs and/or refund(s) for the returned item(s) that you might otherwise have been entitled to, as well as making you responsible for any customs fees we have to pay for the return. You will be responsible for paying your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non­refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of the original shipping will be deducted from your refund. You are considered responsible for the products during the return shipping and un-eligible for any refund if the product is lost during the return shipping. If your return a product for warranty issues after having been asked to do so by us, and the claim is deemed valid after inspection, we will compensate you for your shipping costs, if you have followed all instructions. If you return a product that was sent to you by mistake, after having been asked to do so by us, we will compensate you for your shipping costs, if you have followed all instructions.

Lost package/order not received

The company cannot to any extent be held responsible for orders that are lost due to a wrongful or incomplete address submitted by a customer upon ordering. If the customer selects a different address during the Stripe payment process to the one the customer previously stated, the address selected during the Stripe payment process will be considered as the submitted address.

If a package is returned to the company because of a wrongful/incomplete address or because the customer did not pick up the package per instructions (unclaimed packages), the customer will have to pay extra charges for new shipping attempts, as well as any charges for the return shipping. If the customer does not choose to pay for the new shipping attempts, and any additional costs incurred, the products will be forfeited to the company. The company reserves the right to not attempt a second delivery, and will in such cases refund the customer after subtracting the original shipping cost, as well as any additional costs the company has had because of the failed shipping attempt.

The company cannot to any extent be held responsible for orders that are lost due to customs regulations in the recipient’s country and/or any additional customs fees/duty charged by customs in the recipient country. You are responsible for paying any such fees and making sure that the products you order comply with regulations in your country.

If your order does not arrive within 30 days after you have received a confirmation that it was shipped, you should contact us via the contact form on the website or e-mail to [email protected] . We will then await confirmation from the delivery provider that the package is lost before we consider it to be so. If your package is confirmed lost, you will be given the option of either a full refund or a replacement order. The latter option might not be offered if we deem the likelihood of the replacement order to get lost similarly to be too high. Failure to follow instructions given in reply to your message may lead to your claim being made ineligible.

The company cannot to any extent be held responsible for any costs or losses experienced by a customer due to delayed/lost packages.
